Don't wait in long hospital waiting times or trust a singing teacher can fix your voice! Make an appointment at The Voice Clinic with our experienced medical-therapuetic team and let voice failure be a thing of the past.
The Larynx or 'Voice Box' is a complex part of the human body. It protects our lungs and communicates our thoughts and emotions. It is very sensitive to stress, misuse and trauma. The TVC approach is all encompassing.
The ENT Doctor takes a clear image of you vocal folds to ensure the white tissue, called vocal mucosa, is healthy. The edge of the vocal fold is viewed in slow-motion and its complex movements are assessed. But the muscles surrounding the vocal folds are just as important.
Muscle hyperfunction or Muscle Tension Dysphonia is often the main problem with your voice. At TVC, the assessment of movement is measured with specialized computer software that eliminates guessing and guides your voice treatment plan. Voice rest does not treat MTD! Don't avoid the often simple things you can do to project clearly and eliminate pain and hoarseness.
LEARNING ABOUT YOUR VOICE
Knowing how your voice works helps prevent injury and fatigue. Did you know that vocal folds are vibrating during speech over 2X faster than a hummingbird's wings!? This animated image shows what one vocal fold vibration/second looks like, but know that your vocal folds vibrate over 150 vibrations/second to simply say "hmmmm".
With a tiny digital camera using stroboscopic light, the TVC Team will show you how your voice works and help you improve the dynamic movement needed to bring your voice back.
The sound of your voice is measured with software. The results provide the Speech-Language Pathologist a visual 'fingerprint' of your voice problems. Acoustic biofeedback is a quick, simple and non-invasive way to show you your voice is improving during therapy.
The Voice Clinic offers multi-disciplinary ENT diagnostic and medical-therapeutic care for one's day-to-day voice demands.
